All physical Service Canada Centres, the federal Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) phone line, and Sun Life CDCP Client Services will be closed on Monday, August 3, 2026, for Civic Day. However, online application portals and Sun Life digital member services will remain fully functional throughout the holiday weekend.

Have a dental procedure scheduled over the long weekend? As long as your Sun Life CDCP coverage start date is on or before August 3, 2026, your eligible services are covered. Confirm that your dental provider participates in direct CDCP billing before your appointment to avoid out-of-pocket payment issues.

2. Applying for CDCP Coverage Online Over the Long Weekend

Avoid post-holiday telephone queues on Tuesday by completing your electronic application online through the secure government portal. Follow these four steps:

  1. Confirm Eligibility: Verify that you have no private dental insurance and that your 2025 Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI) was under $90,000.
  2. Gather Identification: Have your Social Insurance Number (SIN), date of birth, mailing address, and CRA Notice of Assessment ready.
  3. Submit Online Application: Log into your My Service Canada Account (MSCA) or access the federal CDCP online application form.
  4. Receive Sun Life Onboarding: After Service Canada approves your application, Sun Life will mail your welcome package and physical Member Card within 15 business days.
